Our water-soluble terpenes are added just before the beer is forced carbonated or bottled conditioned. And while our nanoemulsions contain a small amount of fermentables, the final amount of fermentables added to the beer is negligible and does not cause fermentation. Use the dosing calculator and mixing steps below for custom directions for your beer style and batch size!
IMPORTANT
The water-soluble terpenes should be added to beer within 3-months of their date of manufacture if they are stored in a refrigerator. If they are stored at room temperature the nanoemulsions should be added to beer within 1-month of the date of manufacture.

Small Batch Mixing Directions: By the Gallon

If you are making just a few gallons or less, follow these instructions. 

If using our dilution calculator type the number of gallons that you are making. You can use our calculator to make less than a gallon. For example if you are making a liter, type .264.

For commercial brewers, use our commercial brewing terpene calculator. This calculator uses barrels instead of gallons as the batch unit of measurement.

Our calculator handles this step for you, but if you want to do it the old fashioned way, follow the math steps below.

*There are 3785.4 milliliters in 1 gallon.

1. Multiply the number of gallons in your batch with 3785.4 to determine the number of mLs in your batch of beer.

Example: (1 gallon) x (3785.4 mLs) = 3785.4 mLs

Choose your desired concentration of terpenes that you want to add to your beer.

0.05% – 0.35%          Lighter, lower hopped styles like blonde ale, kristal weizen, pale lager, California commons etc.

0.40% – 0.65%          Strong ales, hoppy pale ales, wheats, browns, porters, etc.

0.70% – 1.00%          Stouts, high gravity, IPA, barrel-aged, sours, fruit ales, meads etc.

1. Multiply the number of determined liters (from Step 02) with the chosen concentration (from Step 03).

  • Example: 3785.4 x 1% = 378.54

2. Divide the number from 1. by (100% – the terpene concentration).

  • Example: 378.54 / (100% – 1%) = 38.24 mLs of water soluble terpenes to add to your batch.

Commercial Brewer Mixing Directions: By the Barrel

When using our commercial brewing terpene calculator, enter the number of barrels that you want to make.

For home brewers, use our small batch terpene calculator. This calculator uses gallons instead of barrels as the batch unit of measurement.

Our calculator handles this step for you, but if you want to do it the old fashioned way, follow the math steps below.

*There are 31 gallons in a barrel and 3.785 liters in a gallon.

1. Multiply the number of barrels by 31 gallons.

2. Multiple the number of gallons by 3.785 to get the total number of liters in your batch.

Choose your desired concentration of terpenes that you want to add to your beer.

After you choose the concentration of terpenes, you now need to determine how much terpene you need to add to your batch. Our calculator does this for you, but if you want to do the math here are the steps!

1. Multiply the number of determined liters (from Step 02) with the chosen concentration (from Step 03).

  • Example: 117.3474 x 1% = 17.3474

2. Divide the number from 1. by (100% – the terpene concentration).

  • Example: 17.3474 / (100% – 1%) = 1.18533 liters of water soluble terpenes to add to your batch.

1. If you use a BBT:

  • Pour the water-soluble terpenes from the beaker into the BBT that will receive the beer. Once the beer is in the BBT, use forced carbonation or preferably pump recirculation to mix the terpenes and beer. Then proceed normally.
  • If the BBT is under pressure you can use the CIP arm and spray ball to add the terpene nano-emulsion using a brink and a pump. Once the beer is in the BBT, use forced carbonation or preferably pump recirculation to mix the terpenes and beer. Then proceed normally.

2. If you use a uni-tank:

  • After the final yeast dump open the dry hop port and pour in the water-soluble terpenes from the beaker, or use the CIP arm and spray ball method. Use forced carbonation or optimally pump recirculation to mix the terpenes and beer. Then proceed normally.

IMPORTANT: to ensure there is no residual sanitizer in the BBT, brink, pump, or transfer hoses because the oxidation potential of common brewery sanitizers like peracetic acid (PAA) will degrade the water-soluble terpenes emulsion.
